Hi Leo,

Yes, you can create an OSPF virtual link inside a GRE tunnel. A GRE
tunnel is essentially a point-to-point link. OSPF treats the GRE tunnel
interface as a point-to-point network. As long as you have enabled OSPF
on the IP addresses within the tunnel, and you successfully form an OSPF
neighbour relationship between your endpoints through the GRE tunnel,
then you should be able to build the virtual-link.

Alex

Subject: Virtual-Link over a GRE Tunnel

Hi:

First of all, thank you.

Now my question. Simple: Can you do an OSPF
virtual-link inside a GRE Tunnel? Say the GRE tunnel is between
Loppback interfaces in area 123, and then you do "area
123 virtual-link <router-id>"?

I can't make the virtual link to come up, and I am suspecting it is not
possible through a GRE Tunnel.

Thanks,

-LB
