RE: R&S Lab Preparation Plan

Sonia,

Before you take a boot camp, I would recommend you get yourself a Practice
Labs Workbook.

The workbooks from both NMC and IE are excellent, although many think that
the NMC workbooks focus too much on redistribution.

After working your way through some of the labs in the Workbooks, you'll
have a sense based on how difficult you find those labs if you need to
strengthen up on fundamentals. (Having a CCNP is NOT a good indicator,
IMHO).

If you're able to work through the labs without excessive difficulty, only
then would I schedule a bootcamp.

Here's what a good bootcamp can do for you:

1) It can fill little gaps in your knowledge (not gaping big holes).

2) It can help you see patterns and similarities between different
technologies which you may not have realized before, thus making it
easier for you to figure out how to approach a new problem.

3) It can provide you with a sense of how close you are to being fully
prepared.

4) It can help you develop a successful lab taking strategy.

That said, I would recommend both NMC and IE. Both are excellent.

After doing all the labs in both workbooks and taking a bootcamp, you should
be almost completely prepared. However, I would recommend you take a few
Mock Labs as well. If you score high on 2 or 3 Mock Labs, you should pass
the lab.

HTH, Tim

PS: Did those links below work for you? They didn't for me. Any ideas?

Hey Sonia,

Re 1: I've not taken any bootacamps myself yet, but from what I've heard
Netmaster Class is a good one. I plan to take one in 2 months.

Re 2: I've scheduled a few sessions with Racktime rental - the service was
great.

Also right now I'm playing a lot with IOS simulators like dynamips - trying
to save more money for training.

Check out:

Also there is an article on IE website:
