RE: anybody passed the CCIE r/s exam ?

They may not be able to take it and pass it on the
fly, but obviously they had what it takes to pass the
lab then.

I've been following the CCIE LAb for several years now
(1999 or so) and while the lab seems more difficult
now in terms of tasks, there were more technologies
then, and let's face it some people who pass the lab
today may not have actually had to cable a rack or set
up a Terminal Server etc. Not that these tasks are
impossible, but they did produce a certain amount of
pressure in a lab candidate.

One thing the proctors commented on the last time I
was at RTP was that very very candidates used a lot of
diagnostic commands. Basically just configure tasks
they remembered and it was sad since many think their
config is correct and don't verify.

Break the labs for some of these folks and they might
not be able to Humpty Dumpty back together again.

Hmmm...

Also recall if the only thing you had to study going
into the lab was Giles, you were probably in for some
pain.

If you had notes from classes, they costed money.

If you had a lab partner, they may or may not be as
bright or as lucky as you...

Lots of things could have happened then and now to
make a given exam more difficult to a given candidate.

Let's not frown on the old guard for making the cert
famous for being difficult.

The lab will continue to evolve, that's part of the
game.

Live and Learn.
