John,

> Port *Vlans allowed on trunk

VLANs configured to be allowed on the trunk. If nothing is configured, then you should see default 1-4094 (or another range depending on the hardware platform). If you were to configure "switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-5", then your output would change to "1-5"

> Port *Vlans allowed and active in management domain

This reflects your actual vlans configured on the switches (in vtp). If you were to create vlans 2 and 3, then you should see 1-3 in the output. This output is not affected by forwarding/blocking states of the STP.

> Port Vlans in spanning tree forwarding state and not pruned

Same as the previous, but it reflects the STP state. If a specific vlan is blocked in STP, then it won't show up in this list (It's pruned from the trunk).

So for example, let's say you've configured "switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-10" on the trunk. You've only created vlans 2 and 5, and vlan 5 is blocked in STP on this trunk. You'd get similar output:

Cat3550#show interfaces trunk

Port Mode Encapsulation Status Native vlan
Gi0/1 desirable 802.1q trunking 1

Port *Vlans allowed on trunk
Gi0/1 1-10

Port *Vlans allowed and active in management domain
Gi0/1 1,2,5

Port Vlans in spanning tree forwarding state and not pruned
Gi0/1 1,2
