Eompls port mode question-SP

Hi Group

I have the Following AToM/Eompls setup

CE1-------->PE1-------EoMPLS------PE3----------> CE2

1, I have a L2-cct runnnig from PE1 to PE2 , vc operational...

CE1 to PE1 attachment cct is a dot1q trunk, CE2 to PE3 attachment cct is in
port-mode

I m using interworking type IP

but question is, I m able to ping from CE1 to CE2 when PE3 to CE2 is
connected directly via cross-cable.

But if i use a switch in between PE3 & CE2, I configured 2 trunk-ports.... I
cannot ping from CE1 to CE2 or visa-versa...

If I m using EoMPLS port mode do i need to directly connect PE3 to CE2 ?
