They are not the same. Since SW1 doesn't have vlan 8 locally assigned, it
won't receive traffic for it due to VTP Pruning. So you need to disable
Pruning for that Vlan in the specified trunk.

Subject: Traffic Control with VLAN

Hello GS,
i was doing a lab the direction said: " Although it does not have it
locally assigned ensure that SW1 receives traffic for VLAN 8 over port
FA0/13
Traffic for VLAN 8 should not be received over any of the other trunk
links"

There are trunk links configured between SW1 and SW2 on ports 13-15
Since the question said no traffic for VLAN 8 on any of the other trunks
this is the way i did my config:
  int range fa0/14 - 15
switchport trunk allowed vlan remove 8

  But the solution has:

  int fa0/13
switchport trunk pruning vlan 2-7, 9-1001

Is my answer wrong? or both are the same? Please advise
by the way pruning is enabled globally

  Mohamed
