The notes you made from taking the written to begin with are a good place to
start. I suppose the short answer is how you felt after the written exam.
If you felt like "I was damned lucky to pass because it's a multiple choice
exam!" then I'd recommend reading/refreshing a bit before doing. If you
felt like "It was a good exam and I was comfortable the whole way with what
I knew!" then I'd probably just start with hands-on labs.
Everyone's different though, and you can really only answer this for
yourself.

Hi !
A small query on lab approach...
Some suggest that after clearing CCIE R & S Written exam, one should
read/refresh the concepts alone for 4-5 months (no hands on), then do hands
on one technology at a time, then finally mix of all technologies with
workbooks !
Others feel one should go one technology at a time, refresh concepts + make
notes + do hands on, then move to next technology. Once this is done with
all chapters / all books, we should practice on workbooks/practice labs..
Whats the best approach that will help retain knowledge, more efficient in
winning the CCIE lab ?
