Backbones would depend on the lab book that you are using (if any). If
you are looking at each technology 1 by 1 then the list below should be
sufficient in my opinion.

What about backbone routers?

Subject: Is My List of Equipment Good Enough

Hi All,

I'm planning on building out my CCIE R&S Equipment Rack and would like
to know your thoughts if all of this would be sufficient or overkill.

6 - 2611XM Routers 256/48
6 - WIC-1T For the 2611XMs
2 - WS-C3550-24-EMI Switches
2 - WS-C3560G-24TS-S Switches
1 - 2511 - Terminal Server
1 - 3640 w/NM-8A/S (To Use As Frame Relay Switch)

What do you think? Am I missing anything or need any additional
modules?
(besides cables, rackmounts, and memory) I chose to go with the 2611XMs
instead of six 3640s since it seemed the cheapest method of having
higher RAM/Flash capabilities. Also, I figured it was maybe worth
paying slightly more having two 10/100 ports built-in rather than having
to buy a 3640 + $100 each for the NM-2E2W for two regular 10baseT ports.

For my 3640 with NM-8A/S module, would this work well to serve as my
frame relay switch? It would work exactly the same way as if I bought a
2522, right? It doesn't look like I can find a lot of 2522s on fleabay
so I was wondering if this might be a good alternate route.

For the switches, if my budget can allow it, would it be better to
really have 4 switches or do I only need two for the lab? Also, for the
3560 switch, should I be looking at the 3560 model or do I need to get
the 3560G version instead?

I just want to be sure that I'm getting the right gear before I unload
the truck on all this. Thanks in advance.

-Roger
