 In many labs you need a multipoint interface as the hub.
Generally if the lab doesn't specifically restrict you then sometimes the 
choice of ptp or multipoint is down to you. Just be careful of the inherent 
operation of the different types like subnets etc. Also pay attention to 
what is happening later on in your lab (read ahead). The same goes for 
broadcast keywords in frame maps, ip ospf network types, split horizon, and 
DR priority.
If you are looking for good coverage of the differences in operation and the 
effect on IGPs get a used copy of Caslow Bridges Routers and Switches off 
Amazon for the price of a happy meal. It's an old book but still the best.
