Fundamentally, the line between source and destination is dimming. You need
to understand that an Access-list are used for "matching"

So, a standard Access list can be used to match:
1) Routes. Route-maps and filtering
2) Multicast Groups. RP and MA filtering
3) Source addresses in Access Control List (ACL's) if applied in
access-group.

Extended access-list can be used to match source and destination, so they
can be used in.
1) Source-Specific Multicasting. To tie a group to a source.
2) Matching a range of prefixes with the destination representing the subnet
(though prefix-lists would be much better).
3) source/destination in ACL's.

The list is not comprehensive, but hope you got the "context" idea.

Joseph.
