I would be keen to see a reply to this from IE lads ..... although I
haven't undertaken a mock lab as yet, I often find whilst doing the
IGP/BGP/redistribution labs from workbook 2, additional configurations
in the solution guide that doesn't seem to have been asked for in the
workbook. I am not speaking of configs that are need to resolve
network routing loops, etc.
As an example, I recall one lab that asked to originate a default
route via RIP - no problem but the solution included a filter to block
the default route being propagated to a BB router. This was not
specifically asked for - not having the filter in place had no impact
on the network so ...when do you decide to add such config and when do
you "don't do anymore than you are asked to do" ????
Another personal favourite is in the SNMP questions - often says host
x & y need to access snmp on the router, etc, etc. No mention of only
allowing those servers and yet solution includes host filtering for
snmp access?? If I don't put in host filtering, those hosts can
certainly access snmp so is this incorrect? Yes, I know real world
good practice is to filter hosts, lots of nice security, etc but, as
often preached by all and sundry, the lab is not a real world, best
practice test.

Steve
