I find the step by step approach produced in Solie's books for each stage of
configuration for say switching or OSPF most helpful.
Similarly Caslow's methodology in Bridges Routers and Switches for CCIEs
second edition still stands the test of time. The content is old but the
approach still stands up. A forgotten book now, buy it used on Amazon for
the price of a happy meal. Best 5 bucks you ever spent.
