No, it should not cause the sub to change. You can verify with "show ip ospf
int brief"
!
interface Serial1/0:0
Ip ospf network point-to-multipoint
!
interface Serial1/0:0.1 point-to-point
 ip address 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
!
router#show ip ospf int brief
Interface    PID   Area            IP Address/Mask    Cost  State Nbrs F/C
Se1/0:0      1     0               164.9.12.1/24      65    P2MP  0/0
Se1/0:0.1    1     9               1.1.1.1/24         65    P2P   0/0
router#
As you can see interface s1/0:0.1 maintains it's default network type of
P2P.
