Just disable DTP, save yourself the trouble of getting caught up in the
semantics of words in the question. The key words I look for "will not
attempt to automatically trunk using DTP" that set's a light of in my head
to disable DTP. If the other end of the trunk was setup with dynamic
desirable you would form a trunk via DTP. It's best to disable it and save
yourself the worries which was your first option.
