Re: PROBLEM WITH ETHERCHANNEL

Hey team,

I recreated this and got a similar error. It looks like something to do
with the order of the configs and negotiation between the switches. The
negotiation is the switches way of trying to 'auto-help' ;-)

I did my configs in stages. My topology: SW1 <---> SW3 <---> SW4 <--->
SW2

SW1 and SW2 should not see SW3 and SW4.

First, I enabled dot1q tunneling and verified all is well via cdp from SW1
and SW2.

Then I enabled trunking on SW1 and SW2 and verified vtp updates. I created
a few vlans and verified all is well.

I then created a L3 etherchannel on both switches. I did the SW1 switch and
got an error message related to the remote side. I then went and did the
second switch and got a similar error message.

I went back and re-did the first switch and all is well now. It appears
that the negotiating between the switches is trying to help you out.

If the configs will help, let me know and I will paste them. I will also be
deleting all the configs later this week ...
