To understand the diffrance we have to understand diffrent aspect of IP SLA:
Every IP SLAs operation maintains an operation return-code value. This
return code is interpreted by the tracking process. The return code can
return OK, OverThreshold, and several other return codes. Different
operations can have different return-code values.
Two aspects of an IP SLAs operation can be tracked: state and reachability.
The difference between these aspects relates to the acceptance of the
OverThreshold return code.
Lets have an example:
Suppose you are using track with rtr and want to make track down whenever
your SLA response time reaches beyond threshold value configured, So in this
case you have reachibility but response is higher than threshold configure
in SLA monitoring, So here is the options for you wether to select state or
reachibility, If you select reahibility track will be up with high response
time but if you select state track will be down if it receive operation code
other than OK in this case it will be Over Threshold.
Below are the state and reachability aspects of IP SLAs operations that can
be tracked.
Tracking Return Code Track State
State OK Up
(all other return codes) Down
Reachability OK or OverThreshold Up
(all other return codes) Down
Hope this will clear your doubts :)
