The original question:
" Hello
A distribute list INBOUND in OSPF avoids the route from entering local RIB
but doesn't stop LSAs propagation. I tried to use a distribute list OUTBOUND
and results are: routes still in IP routing table and still LSAs being
propagated.
Is there anyone than can explain me the effect of distribute list in OSPF??
Sorry if it seems an stupid question. Thanks in advance and Brgds.....
Johan"
So since we're deciding some things aren't true at all, then having later
messages talk about Type3 mechanisms not affecting Type5 LSAs...
Can you elaborate on exactly what things are being said that aren't true at
all? Since I at least read this regarding internal (Type 1,2,3) LSAs but we
seem to have spun multiple times here. I'm sure everyone would appreciate
clarification on what things are absolutely true or not true.
Thanks!
Scott
PS. In case anyone else wanted to apply in some places versus others, you
can find in Cisco's docs: " The command distribute-list out works only on
the routes being redistributed by the Autonomous System Boundary Routers
(ASBRs) into OSPF. It can be applied to external type 2 and external type 1
routes, but not to intra-area and interarea routes." which should clarify
things.

Marish,
That is NOT correct, you should lab it up and try, i hear that statement all
the time, and it's NOT true at all.
