You may be right on that... I recall 7.0 > 7.1 > 7.2 path but never ran 
into trouble doing 7.0 > 7.2 directly. Though it was a long time ago.
I have never used ASDM in productin, the one which comes with 8.0 looks 
decent though. So what I would do first was deleting ASDM image from ASA 
flash. :-)
