BGP IPv4 as PE-CE protocol

Folks ,
 
I am doing lab 5 on the IE labs for SP
 
R2 has an Internet VRF connected to R9 , R9 is advertising some loopbacks via
IPV4 to R2 , R2 is peering with R9 from vrf address family ..
 
thefore we can consider PE-CE protocol in this case is BGP IPV4
 
my first question is , when we use BGP IPv4 as the PE-CE protocol , do we have
to send-label in order for the PE router (R2 ) to install the prefixes into
the MPLS table ?
 
the solution is suggessting that ..however i tried such scenrios before i do
not recall that was required ....any inputs ??
 
 
 
furthermore , i keep getting a very strange output on R2 LFIB , the labels are
allocated , however it shows path unknown ( actually Paths Unkn ) ...wat is
that ???
 
I tried reboot the entire dynampis ..same output .
