For more documentation on the Cisco Video surveillance I recommend going to
www.ciscoet.com. There you can find tons of info about the Cisco Video
Surveillance solution.
I know it's a bit off topic here, but I don't find the Cisco Video the best
solution on the market. We have lost a lot of costumer cases to the
Milestone software because of the way the Cisco solution handles the Windows
Active Directory integration.
BTW fun to see that yesterday they made the new 6.2/4.2 version available on
CCO for download, earlier today they removed it again...
Best regards
Martin

You need both as they have different jobs and are both needed, but you can
both run on the same server so this should help. The hardware requirements
are pretty low ... but you do need access to a fair amount of storage
space.
Curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to learn more (I am easily
distracted) ... and I found this link very helpful. Will definitely answer
your questions.

Interestingly enough, if the viewers are in the same location, might be best
to run mcast for the viewers ... especially if over the WAN. The link above
describes how and why. Cool stuff.
