I disagree.
The list rules are the list rules, and they're clear as day. You could
argue that it's not up to Chaz to try to enforce them (not that I
discourage it -- I'm "guilty" of it myself).

No one is complaining about the presence of people like yourself and
other instructors on the list. The list would be significantly
de-valued without you all. Having said that, I can't help but feel
that the frequency of quality contributions has decreased over the
past 6 - 12 months. I don't know if it's because prospective
candidates are in hibernation, waiting for information about the 4.0
lab to materialise, or if it's because of the North American summer
:-)
I personally don't mind seeing the occasional product announcement on
this list. I'm not really interested in subscribing to 10+ different
RSS feeds or blogs to stay up-to-date. I'm blissfully ignorant of what
commercial interests the list owner has, and why he may have decided
to create the rules as they currently exist, but I reckon as long as
the frequency of such posts is "reasonable", and the subject is
prefixed so that it's clearly commercial in nature, it can work.
In summary, I think the real problem is that the list rules around
commercial posts don't align with what the majority of the subscribers
are willing to accept.
cheers,
Dale
