I purchased the First Generation Kindle (no longer sold by Amazon)
because the nature of my work pretty much prohibits the Cisco Press
texts being transported with me.
I simply love it! My biggest complaint is the fact that I am forced to
turn it off for takeoffs and landings when flying commercially. Errr,
when I am flying myself, I actually still turn it off then. :-)
If you purchase a newer model, you should be very happy for one main
reason - native PDF support. This means you will really enjoy the DOC-
CD sections better that you download from the Cisco site. Some PDFs
and some Cisco Press books (MPLS Fundamentals) are practically
unusable on the First Gen Kindle.
A competing product to check out is the new Sony Reader. It sounded
superior to me when I was looking at it - but I did not bother to
check the available books for it to ensure all the Cisco Press titles
were there. BE SURE TO DO THAT!
By the way, I was very skeptical about all of this because I despise
reading on a computer screen. I can ensure you that if that is a
concern for you - have no fear - the digital ink technology is truly
remarkable.
Whatever you decide, be sure you continue to cherish those Cisco Press
books! <Not a plug!>
