Jason,
From the reading i've done it is generally recommended by Cisco to
power off the switch that you are removing from the stack. This will
ensure that there is no re-election in the stack. However, as you only
have 2 switches in the stack i dont see why u cant just remove the
stacking cable. After that you can use the no switch # provision
"model" command as Brian stated. Also, the switch still keeps a local
copy of the config so it will continue to use the management IP on the
other switches so before putting it on the network make sure you at
least change that. Also, it might be worth while to look to see if the
stack-mac persistent command is set.
