i dont think rootguard is the solution here.

All root guard does is prevent a switch from receiving superior BPDUs.
this will in effect SPLIT the spanning tree domain in your case.

only solution is to raise the bridge priority. this can be done
directly by changing priority OR indirectly by using Uplinkfast feature.
