I don't agree. 
Cisco makes the rules very clear upfront. There is no hidden agenda and make an exception for 1 person you need to do the same for everybody. 
If you are physically capable of going to sit the lab then I suggest you do. It will be a learning experience and will prepare you for your 2nd attempt.
