the "set ip default next-hop verify-availability track" command

Experts,

Need some clarification on the "set ip default next-hop verify-availability" with "track <object>". The command reference (12.4T release) specifically states that the neighboring device must be CDP capable for next hop verification to work properly. Is this also applies when tracking is also used?
