resolve-vpn question

Hi all ,

Could some one give me more info in understanding why this command is used
in Junos .
group eBGP-to-Carrier {
    type external;
    family inet {
        labeled-unicast {
            *resolve-vpn;*
        }
    }
this if for bgp to the carrier , we have carrier in carrier service .
also what is its equivalent in cisco .
