Re: NXOS upgrade on parent switch and affect on FEX

OK, if you are dual homed, here's what's going to happen. After you
upgrade the first 5K, if there's a difference in the FEX firmware, they
will be attached to the un-upgraded 5K and not to the upgraded one. You'll
be able to see which one controls them by doing a SHOW FEX on both 5Ks. If
you can take the downtime hit, you can just upgrade the 2nd 5K but
understand you'll lose all connectivity to your FEX when that 5K reboots,
they will download their firmware and reconnect to the upgraded 5K. If you
want to do it in a controlled manner, reload each FEX one at a time.
(Reload fex xxx) They take about 2-3 minutes in my experience... wait
until each one is done before moving on.

Here's my general procedure for upgrading:

1. Upgrade vPC primary 5K
2. Reload each FEX. Wait until each is completely up and active on the
upgraded 5K before doing the next one.
3. Once all FEX are reloaded and controlled by the upgraded 5K, upgrade
the 2nd.
