Sounds like it might be a route-redistribution problem. For some reason,
Appletalk RTMP & EIGRP don't always automatically redistribute. Try adding
the command "apple route-redistribution" on R1.

Subject: CCIEBootCamp Lab 6 AppleTalk issue

Hi,

I worked thru Lab 6 last night and am comfortable with everything, I
just
have one small snag with Appletalk.

The problem area is as follows:

------------------R1--------------------R7----------------R3----------
Cable 10-10 Cable 17-17 | Cable 37-37
Zone R1ETHER Zone WAN17 | Zone WAN37
                                                         |
                                                         |
                                                         |
                                                         |
                                Cable 27-27 |
                                Zone WAN27 |
                                                         R2

R1 <-> R7 is point-to-point HDLC serial, as is R7 <-> R3. These serial
connections are running EIGRP, and the ethernet segment runs RTMP.

The issue I have is that the 10-10 cable range and R1ETHER zone is not
appearing in R3's appletalk route table. R7 has other point-to-point
connections, and the cable range and zone appears on those routers. R2
has
an R2ETHER zone not shown (similar to R1), and this zone and cable-range
APPEAR in R3's route table.

I have rebooted all routers numerous times, but the cable-range or zone
never comes up. I have debugged EIGRP Updates, and the 10-10 range is
sent
to R3 out Serial2 as shown in the debug below. THE STRANGE THIS IS IF I
USE
RTMP INSTEAD OF EIGRP ON THE LINK, THE ROUTE APPEARS.

R7#debug apple eigrp-update
