Actually, the virtual link create a new logical interface.
That new interface need to have the same authentication as
the other end of the virtual-link.
The other end of the virtual-link dictates the type of
authentication.
If the whole area 0 has clear password, then you will need
clear passwords. If the interface you are connecting uses
MD5, then MD5...
