ospf auth problem

hi,guys

(area0)R1(area1)-------(area1)R2(area3)
if there is no authentication everything is fine, the R1 can obtain the networks of area3, but when i used the md5 authentication in area0, the networks of area3 is not seen by R1, even I used the virtual-link authentication the R1 can still not see the networks of area3. But I can see all the virtual links are up.
why?
